The Salt Spring Potters Guild is proud to host its second biennial  juried Exhibition and Prize competition in 2018, showcasing excellent ceramic art produced in the Province of British Columbia.For centuries potter's have been transforming the earth into art, with the understanding that one's life is a like piece of clay, with no one but themselves to transform it. Now the Salt Spring Island Potters Guild prepares totransform the profile of ceramists and potters in the Province of BC, by launching the Salt Spring Island Ceramic Awards (SSICA), a biennial ceramic prize, promoting the artistic and technical excellence in ceramic art. 

Calling out to all resident artists in our community of British Columbia, Salt Spring Island, known for its creative passion in promoting the arts, is honoring BC artists by providing them with the opportunity to earn up to $7,750 in prize money, with the first prize artist taking $4,000 plus 9 more awards and prizes.  

Artist exposure will be extensive, as Salt Spring Island is known as one of Canada's premier art communities. In total, at least 60 final works will be selected by a three-member jury from accross Canada with professional skills in ceramic curation, creation and education. Original works will be exhibited and for sale at historic Mahon Hall on Salt Spring Island, from from October 4 through to October 14th, 2018, with winners announced at the Gala Awards on October 13, 2018.

SSICA welcomes beginning and established ceramic artists from across British Columbia to prepare for and submit original, sculptural and/or functional ceramic work, consisting mostly of fired clay.
