Whatever the Cost: Hatley Park and the Dunsmuirs

Saturday, August 18 | 2:00 - 4:30 pm (doors open at 1:30 pm) | Hatley Castle

The West Shore Arts Council and Royal Roads University present a special screening of Whatever the Cost: Hatley Park and the Dunsmuirs, featuring performances by vocalist Elizabeth Gerow and pianist Jannie Burdeti and:

  • Q&A with filmmakers, David Springbett and Heather MacAndrew

  • Refreshments and light snacks

  • Costume contest: Dress up in period wear (optional), circa 1890s to 1920s

  • Tour of the Japanese Garden (optional)

Learn about the history of the Dunsmuir family and the Hatley Park National Historic Site through this compelling documentary, produced for RRU, by filmmakers David Springbett and Heather MacAndrew. Vocalist Elizabeth Gerow, who has extensively researched the life and music of Elinor Dunsmuir, will be performing several of Elinor’s original songs accompanied by pianist Jannie Burdeti.
