artsVest BC is run by Business for the Arts with the support of Canadian Heritage, Government of British Columbia,
TELUS and regional funders the City of Kelowna, the Columbia Basin Trust and the Capital Regional District.
The West Shore Arts Council is proud to provide leadership in cultural development for the communities of Langford, Colwood, Metchosin and Highlands & View Royal. We have a mandate to enrich community life by fostering and promoting participation in the arts, culture and heritage. This includes championing community events which reflect the vision and values of the region’s official community plans and supports the growth and nurturance of a local culture that is given the support it needs to showcase its talents and inspire future creative generations to reach for the stars.
PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE
It has been exciting to see in recent months that our local municipalities are acknowledging that a performing arts centre is a possibility here on the West Shore. Of course we certainly embrace such a project as this. This event does help demonstrate that our community has a large element of the arts to offer.
One reason we decided to take the “risk” and sponsor such an event with our partner Westhills Land Corporation was to provide a platform for the local artists and provide awareness to families and youth as to what the arts can offer.
