In Conversation III:  Poets Write, Artists Respond

According to Matthew Arnold, Poetry is simply the most beautiful, impressive, and widely effective mode of saying things, and hence its importance.

And what better time than April, National Poetry Month, for Coast Collective’s In Conversation III:  Poets Speak, Artists Respond.  Poets throughout the region were asked to submit up to four poems each.  These poems were then sent out to members of Coast Collective, as well as to other artists who had expressed an interest in participating.  More than 30 artists then chose poems that were meaningful to them and which they felt they could interpret in their chosen medium, be that 2-D or 3-D.

The poems and artwork will be displayed side-by-side in the gallery. Further, any poems that were not selected by an artist will be posted so that you, the visitor, can interpret them for yourself in an exciting interactive art display.

This show runs from April 3rd to April 14th.  Some of the selected poems will be read by the poets themselves at the Meet-the-Poets-and-Artists reception on Saturday, April 6th from 1 to 3.

Poetry is ordinary language raised to the Nth power.   –Paul Engle
