If you are searching for a delightful way to spend an April evening, consider attending a concert in peaceful Metchosin. On April 26, 2023, the Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre Association (MACCA), in collaboration with the West Shore Arts Council, will sponsor just such a concert at St. Mary of the Incarnation church, 4125 Metchosin Road, at 7:00 p.m.

Returning for his third visit to our area will be British cellist Michael Kevin Jones, 2023 guest strings adjudicator for Pacific Northwest Music Festival. He will be joined by Bruce Vogt, piano chair at the University of Victoria, and they will introduce local rising flute star Eva Bradávková.

The programme will include the famous Mendelssohn Piano Trio in D minor in a special version with flute (instead of violin), music for solo cello and piano, as well as the brilliant Trio for flute, cello and piano in G major by Haydn.

Advance tickets may be purchased online from Eventbrite: [https://eventbrite.com]. Any unsold tickets will be available for purchase at the door: Regular $25, Senior $20, student/child $15. Advance purchase is preferred to avoid congestion at the door and to allow the organizers to calculate refreshment quantities.

A special musical tribute to the late, great violinist Norman Nelson, who resided in Sooke, B.C. will take place along with presentation of the newly released recording of Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto that Nelson recorded with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
