2023 Student Artwork Virtual Gallery

In April 2023, the West Shore Arts Council invited local Westshore middle and high school students to submit their artwork with descriptions to be used in this year’s WSAC Virtual Gallery.
This year we received drawings, photos, a story and a dance routine! The Arts Council reviewers were very impressed with the quality and variety of the artwork submitted.

Room 1
The Lion
Cassidy (Grade 6): I really enjoy painting wildlife, I like the big cats.
Red Panda
Rowan (Grade 7): Cartoon version of a Red Panda in watercolour, outlining done in white acrylic Posca pen.
SuperMario Bros
Laksh (Grade 8): I wanted to show the contrast between the two characters in the SuperMario Bros movie. The villain has lightning beside it and the other character is in the open grassland. I used acrylic paint to complete my work.

Laksh (Grade 8): Acrylic painting of a character inspired from a video game. I wanted to try painting a scene with a sunset and mountains.
Earth
Jordan (Grade 6): This piece shows that the world is sort of trapped, with some bad people destroying nature. But is pushes through and does it anyway.

Cassidy (Grade 6): This is one of my bookmarks from a collection I made it makes people laugh.

Santiago (Grade 6): The human being can expand beyond the horizon like the roots of the trees. This piece shows that the world is sort of trapped, with some bad people destroying nature. But is pushes through and does it anyway.

The Outdoors
Sebastian (Grade 7): A nature pencil drawing of the great outdoors filled with lush pines and a beautiful lake.
Eye
Jordan (Grade 6):
"This sketch is a detailed shading of an eye. I think that the emotion that comes through is sadness. (This piece shows the emotion of sadness using shading.)"
Wood Ant
Sebastian (Grade 7): A beautiful shaded pencil drawing of a wood ant.
Moon
Jordan (Grade 6): This piece shows that not all reflections are the same. Like everyone is different.
Forest Fire
Piercen (Grade 7): Pencil crayon and pencil sketch of spotches of forest burning.

Rowan (Grade 7): Pencil drawing
Woman's Eye
Alexandra (Grade 7): A woman's eye, painted with watercolour and detailed with charcoal pencil.

Megan
Natalie (Grade 7): Since my dog Megan recently passed away, I did this picture of her using india ink sharpie, pencil crayon, charcoal, and alcohol based markers.
What I really liked about Megan was that she always greeted me through the curtains.

Cassidy (Grade 6): This is a piece I painted to resemble poverty and working together.
Makenzie (Grade 8): It was August 2022. We were on an evening boat ride around the bay it was golden hour the sun was on the top of the mountain in Prideaux Havan Desolation Sound B.C.

Cassidy (Grade 6): Sand art dog named Chilli at Sidney spit.

Makenzie (Grade 8): It was July 1 2022. I was at Cain Beach on Galiano Island. We wear checking the island out. It was sunny and the flowers were at full bloom in the long grass.
