West Shore Arts Council Group Grants: In previous years, West Shore Arts Council Group Grants were given to member groups to help fund their activities. The money was part of funding acquired from the BC Arts Council. In Spring of 2017, the West Shore Arts Council received notice that the BCAC had changed its policy about use of such funding: arts councils may no longer disperse funding to member groups via “grants in aid”. The West Shore Arts Council will endeavour to find other methods of assisting member groups to achieve their arts programming. Anyone who values Westshore community arts, culture and heritage can join the West Shore Arts Council.
Membership in the West Shore Arts Council
WSAC welcomes new members who are interested in supporting the arts in the West Shore region. We have a large database of members including individual artists, arts organizations, and individuals who want to contribute meaningfully to arts development. It costs nothing to join as WSAC membership fees were dropped in 2022 when our rules of membership changed.
To become a member, an individual or organization needs to submit a letter to WSAC explaining your background in the arts, why you want to become a member, and what specifically you would like to contribute to the work of WSAC. Prospective members are encouraged to review the WSAC website in crafting their letter of application.
If you wish to join the West Shore Arts Council, please send your application to info@westshorearts.org with the following information:
If the WSAC Board of Directors approves your application, you will be contacted and invited to attend the AGM.
The WSAC AGM is open to the public, but only approved members may vote at the meeting. New members must already have been approved and instated at a meeting prior to the AGM.
