Metchosin ArtPod has operated a gallery within the Metchosin Arts and Cultural Association Building since 2019, with a core membership of 14 artists.

This year they will be hosting six open-call juried art exhibitions.

The first of which is one exhibition now:

StillLife: Art to Seize the Moment is open Jan 31st to March 30th, 2025.

For this exhibition, artists were invited to explore STILLlife in all its meanings and possibilities. While the classic concept of STILLlife can bring a carefully arranged scene to mind, the exhibition goes beyond tradition and embraces fresh interpretations of stillness. It celebrates how art can capture life and evokes the power and poignancy of being still.

The second open-call juried art exhibition will be: Air: Exploring Our Place in the Atmosphere

Exhibition Dates: Apr 4 – May 25
Opening Gala: Apr 5, 2-4 pm
In observation of World Earth Day, ArtPod invites submissions to our annual show exploring one of the four elements. This year, we ask artists to interpret the physically constant but shapeless presence we call AIR.  Though invisible, it can be as subtle as a whisper, a breath, a breeze, or as impactful as a destructive weather event. It is both necessary to life, and yet able to end it.

This year, ArtPod will also be hosting professionally taught workshops alongside each exhibition.

The next workshop will be: Slow Portrait Mapping Workshop

10:00am – 4 pm Saturday, March 22, 2025
Event Room, MACC
4495 Happy Valley Road, Metchosin.

Explore a variety of media while experiencing how deep listening, meditative drawing, and slow painting can result in a unique mind map illustrating you and your inner landscape. Join Deb Gloeckler for an afternoon of quietude, inner reflection and creative fun.

ArtPod also hosts ongoing workshops throughout the week.

Monday – Watercolour Drop-In, 1-3 pm
Tuesday – Life Drawing and Portrait Drop-In, 10- Noon
Wednesday – Rural Sketching Group, 2-4 pm

ArtPod also has published books of past art exhibitions and is hoping to release more with this year’s Art Exhibitions. You can find them for sale on their website.

ArtPod offers a great number of art opportunities to the community and this year certainly hopes to bring a lot more and we support their efforts! Be sure to follow their newsletter and check them out!
