CALL for Dance, Music & Acting Performances

PROPOSAL ENTRY DEADLINE: Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 5:00 pm

The West Shore Arts Council (WSAC) together with Westhills Land Corp. is presenting the 10th Light Up the Hills festival taking place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the Westhills community in Langford, BC.

We are specifically looking for dance, music or acting proposals that have illumination as part of the presentation. Depending on the performance, we request the work be about 15 minutes in length. 

The West Shore Arts Council strives to continually reach out to include new artists in our various events. If you are an individual or group who has not yet had an opportunity to work with us, we would especially like to hear from you!

 

EVENT DETAILS:

Light Up the Hills is a family-friendly outdoor festival of light presented by the West Shore Arts Council and Westhills. Held after dark, the featured illuminated artworks and entertainment spaces will create a spectacular glowing effect throughout the community. Event participants will walk along a designated path, passing by various performances and artworks, using hand-made lanterns to guide their way. This community-focused event aims to showcase the creativity of local artists, musicians, and performers.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Please submit a description of the type of performance that will be given. If a video is available, please submit this also.
  2. Arts organizations on the Westshore will be given first priority.
  3. Performers from various backgrounds are invited to be inspired by the festival’s natural environment.

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Applicants should submit:

  1. Contact information (name, address, phone, email, website)
  2. A brief description of the proposed work
  3. Length of performance
  4. Number of dancers/performers
  5. Technical requirements; For example, please define electrical needs
  6. If available –  a video or online link to a full-version or similar version of your proposed work to be presented

 

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE:

Artists will be notified by July 10, 2025.

ARTIST FEES:

Performing Artists will be offered artist fees at a minimum of $300 and may be increased by the adjudicating committee depending on size/type of the work/program.
